Pool Room Costs are a big consideration when investing in any area of the home. In order to be satisfied with the results you need to consider what you want to spend and still get all the necessary equipment, accessories and lighting required for your game room.

Used Pool Table $800Antique Pool Table $50,000

Used slate pool tables can be bought for as little $800 to $1500. I strongly recommend you buy a slate table instead of an imitation. In many cases a used slate table is a better value than a new table with some type of imitation slate. Slate tables will outlast particle board or other synthetic slate materials and retain their value. Good quality tables for home use are generally priced in the $1500 to $4500 range. The prices vary greatly depending on the size of the table and type of felt chosen. Tournament quality tables are priced from $4500 all the way up to $10,000. Antique Collectable tables reach prices that exceed $100,000!

Transport and setup of your pool table is a big expense. If you are buying a new table you will often have these costs built in to the purchase price. If not they range from $300 for a simple 7 foot table to $1,000 for a collectable 9 foot table. The factors affecting the cost is the distance it has to be shipped and the type of felt used to cover it. These costs can be an area for you to save money if you can find the help moving and setting up the table. You may be able to handle the moving and setup of the table and still have a professional recover the table. The lighting for your gameroom is the next largest expense. The number of choices for gameroom lighting are as varied as ones imagination. You can get a simple 3 lamp light for over your pool table or bar for as little as $120. These are good quality lights without the decorative touches as some of the more expensive models. Many models and styles are available in the $150 to $700 range. You may want a lighting set that includes matching table lights or hanging pendant lamps. Matched sets are available for as little as $300 all the way up to $1,000. Accessories for your pool table are needed to complete that area of your gameroom. You will need pool cues, pool balls, a triangle, chalk, a table brush, a cue holder or rack and a bridge stick. These are the minimum you need to use your table. These products are available in all price ranges, as low as $100 for a low end kit or as high as $500 for a high quality kit. These accessory kits are sometimes called play packs. You may want to buy these products seperate to get the type and quality you want.

The budget for your gameroom can be as little as $1500. If you have the gameroom in your home you will accomplish a couple other things. The kids will stay home more and the neighbors kids will also be over more. That's not a bad thing. You will save money by not having to go out to enjoy the games of your choice. You will drive less by making your gameroom the destination for you and your friends. Set up your budget and start putting your gameroom together.
