For nearly 20 years Predator shafts and cues have been built to help players of all levels improve their game. They are built on the premise that if a player is shooting English on a cue ball (anything but a dead center hit) at the moment of contact between the cue ball and tip, a deflection occurs either in the path of the cue ball or the cue shaft itself. Most will agree we want as little change in the path of the cue ball as possible, so these shafts are built to deflect instead.
Predator cues started out making only their shafts to it other cue maker's cues. They still do this today in addition to building their own lines of cues and specialty cues. Some of the latest offerings from predator are the new BLAK Series which feature an all Ebony Butt with Micarta inlay, and the second generation 314 shaft. Check out the Predator BLAK 4 Pool Cue with some of the most intricate detail Predator has offered.
The Predator phenomenon has spurred other companies to produce performance shafts and cues. McDermott uses different techniques for the I-Shafts that are 3 different shafts with varying performance goals.
The new OB Cues OB-1 Cue Shafts are quickly becoming one of the most popular Performance Shafts. With a completely different construction method and proprietary materials OB-1 has spurred new interest in performance shafts. Currently OB CUES is only producing made in the USA performance shafts but in the near future will have associations with a top cue maker in the US.
